The David Show dropped into the Whino’s Studio Thursday with some pretty impressive wines:
Angeline Sauvignon Blanc Russian River Valley 2010. Grade=Outstanding. Wow! Russian River Valley for $10-$11? This crisp, Graves-like SB is full of crisp lime zest, honeydew melon and Asian pear notes. Lots of straw and fresh cut grass in the nose, finishing with tart green apple.
King Estate Domain Pinot Gris Oregon 2009. Grade=Amazing. My God! This is an incredible white wine. Just so much going on here; pears, honeyed mango, pineapple, Key lime, touches of mineral and white spice. It is dry, yet dense and rich. Just phenomenal.
Angeline Pinot Noir California 2010. Grade=Outstanding. Juicy red fruits, cola nut, and a touch of red tea and sandalwood. Finishes soft and fruity.
King Estate Domain Pinot Noir Oregon 2008. Grade=Amazing³. File under: HOLY SHIT! THIS IS SO GOOD! Inundating the palate with lush, ripe red fruits, rose petals, cocoa, vanilla and an orgy of spice, this sensuous Pinot Noir is a hit on all levels; remarkable.
Kendermann Pinot Noir Ice Wine 2008 (375 ml). Grade=Very Good. This was initially quite weird until I learned it was made from Pinot Noir. Sweet, yet still retaining its earthy character, this shows off honeyed persimmon, melon and apricot.
Kiona Chenin Blanc Ice Wine Columbia Valley 2008 (375 ml). Grade=Amazing. Super-sexy with its notes of honeyed apple and pear, touches of lime, apricot and spice. Just rolls on and on across the palate.
